The Women of Lazarus

Spanning the tumultuous sweep of twentieth-century Soviet history, this multigenerational family saga revolves around Lazar Lindt, a brilliant and uninhibited physicist who becomes a cornerstone of the Soviet atomic program. Despite his monumental scientific stature, Lindt's eccentric and obsessive nature deeply disrupts the lives of three women from different generations: Marusya, the maternal wife of his early mentor; Galina, a young woman coerced into an estranged, loveless marriage with him; and Lidochka, his orphaned granddaughter, a gifted ballerina striving to break free from his suffocating legacy to build a life and home of her own.
