In Milan, novice nun Caterina is preparing to take her perpetual vows when she finds an abandoned newborn in a city park. After taking the infant to a hospital, she sets out to trace the child's mother using a laundry mark on the swaddling blanket. Her search leads to Ernesto, a meticulous and emotionally detached dry-cleaner owner whose solitary routine is unsettled as the two form a tentative bond while navigating the hidden corners of the city.
