This is without a doubt my favorite Sookie Stackhouse book so far. It’s dark and (I know this sounds odd to say about a paranormal story) realistic. Harris doesn’t let Sookie hide from her problems. She has to truly face reality and deal with it in a way she’s never had to previously in her life. She can’t hide from her telepathy, her exes, her friendships, her coworkers, or her enemies. In a way this book is all about Sookie having to grow up and deal with it.
wolfshowl on Opinions of a Wolf Harris tells her stories in 1st Person, and it really lets the readers focus in on what Sookie is going through that she keeps hidden from everyone else. This is DEAD AND GONE’s strong point, and gets us back on track after last year’s disappointing FROM DEAD TO WORSE. Without letting loose and spoilers, stuff actually happens in DEAD AND GONE, and we get some very interesting revelations on Sookie’s past. Not to mention, the ending to this book is actually pretty grim.
Steven on Elitist Book Reviews Definitely one of the best books in the series, and that's in spite of how far it went. Or maybe it was because of how far it went. This installment is pretty much the culmination of eight books' worth of emotional Sookie/Eric foreplay.
