In formal terms, 'Your Republic Is Calling You' is remarkably lively. A glance at the table of contents instantly reveals the author's narrative design. The 24-hour setup, running from 7 AM to 7 AM the next morning, evokes real-time series like '24'. By breaking down potentially tedious material hour by hour, it keeps readers on edge without letting up. Kim Young-ha has truly written a novel capable of competing against all modern media.
Seong on Aladin Can't you still taste that distinctive Kim Young-ha flavor?! While it lacks the sheer lighthearted breeziness of 'Brother Has Returned', 'Your Republic Is Calling You' is unmistakably Kim Young-ha. His sensibilities are projected onto Kim Ki-yeong, Hyon-mi, and Ma-ri alike—even without his name on the cover, you could tell instantly he wrote it! It was my own fault for reading reviews first; if I could track down the reviewer who claimed he lost his touch, I'd give them a piece of my mind!
책읽는아가씨 on Aladin A 'spy' is someone who constantly stands on a borderline: between North and South, daily life and ideology, trust and suspicion. But the novel's protagonist, Kim Ki-yeong, has long crossed that border and adapted as an ordinary individual in the daily life of South Korea. Suddenly, he is ordered to negate his very existence. Identity is defined by varied relationships within daily life; this work allows us to effortlessly read while deeply reflecting on the individual, history, and existence.
