Elf

• Good, indeed great Will Ferrell, a sort of jack-of-all-trades clown as the 'elf', James Caan doing his part, the lovely Zooey Deschanel as the romantic interest... The charming fairy tale comes to life amidst vibrant colors, gags, and Christmas lights.

• The plot is very good, and on top of that Will Ferrell's performance is excellent; I highly recommend it.

• I can't help but laugh just remembering this movie. It remains a children's holiday comedy, but it turns out so fun and original thanks to its wacky plot. It made me laugh multiple times, and that alone is worth gold. Elves, snow, giant lollipops, Santa Claus, and tireless New York all come together in this crazy little world. I warmly recommend it to parents to watch with their kids.

I like the chemistry between Will Farrell and Zooey, and it is a treat to have national treasures Ed Asner and Bob Newhart leading off the film as Santa and the Papa elf. James Caan and Mary Steenburgen are credible as Elf’s prospective new family in New York City.
