Breaking the Waves
In an austere, devoutly religious coastal community in 1970s Scotland, an innocent young woman marries an oil rig worker whose subsequent paralyzing injury shatters their idyllic life. Believing she is guided by personal conversations with God, she embarks on an agonizing emotional and sexual sacrifice in a desperate bid to save her husband.
