After their mother passes away and their aunt abandons them, ten-year-old Thembi and her younger brother Khwezi travel from their rural KwaZulu-Natal village to Durban. Carrying only a traditional Zulu craft mat woven by their mother, the two orphaned siblings must navigate the harsh realities of city life and rely on each other to survive on the streets.
