In the impoverished East End of London during the late 1950s, young nurse Jenny Lee joins Nonnatus House, a nursing convent where Anglican nuns and lay midwives provide maternity care to the surrounding community. Together, the midwives confront systemic poverty, complex health crises, and transformative social shifts with deep empathy and clinical resolve.

A drama that is so gentle, warm, beautiful, and wonderful. There are no unpleasant characters, so it is easy to watch without stress. There are sad stories, but none end on a gloomy note, and there is so much to learn. I truly think from the bottom of my heart that mothers are incredible. Jenny is mysterious and intriguing, but all the characters are charming, so it is delightful no matter who takes center stage.

It brings an important reality, yet within it, very authentic characters with a powerful bond that take us from a realistic vision to the fullness of human connection.

The female universe is explored and exposed in all its aspects in a respectful manner. I was very positively surprised. Well worth watching.
