It' s hard to explain... It's an absurd comedy that has everything from time travel, space travel, parallel universe, mythology, and any sci-fi thing you can think of. The series revolves around a love story, but each episode has some elements of absurdity. I recommend watching at least 4-5 episodes to get the feel of it. Then you'll continue anyway :)
BottleHour5703 on Reddit To put it simply, it's a surreal love story between two people born on the same day in the same hospital, with occasional dramatic moments, and it takes place in an imaginary world similar to ours in many ways, but absurdly -and hilariously- different in some other ways. It was interesting to see it in the Community sub, because just like Community it's an intelligently written and original show (not a blatant rip off at all), and it has tons of references, again, like Community.
besyuziki on Reddit Last week while watching the show, my wife and I had this dialogue; Me: Who's that sleeping between Alexander the Great and the White-Bearded Grandfather? Wife: Dostoyevsky.. That's exactly what kind of show this is.. It instills pure absurdity into us so beautifully that you aren't surprised in the slightest by this exchange.. Having Dostoyevsky (actual Dostoyevsky) sleeping right in the middle of the bed feels completely natural, and you just carry on peeling your apple..
microsofistice on Ekşi Sözlük It has become one of the most brilliant examples of the absurdist comedy genre... A show that readers of Alper Canıgüz and Murat Menteş will embrace without feeling the slightest bit out of place. A wonder from Onur Ünlü, alias Ah Muhsin Ünlü...
fast thinker on Ekşi Sözlük Anyone can watch Leyla ile Mecnun, but not everyone can truly understand it.. It subtly weaves in delicate references to everything while remaining a joy to watch, making you laugh and then suddenly cry, and just as suddenly making you smile through your tears—not to mention the music, which is simply beyond words. A magnificent series.
