Cranford

• The cast was perfect; Dame Judi Dench as the slightly mousy but brave Miss Matty, Eileen Atkins as the prim and proper Miss Jenkins and Imelda Staunton as the gossiping Miss Pole. It successfully creates a town with its own personality – a small universe in itself. There is adventure, romance, and funny escapades but more importantly, there are well-defined characters.

• The acting in Cranford is decidedly top-notch. Dame Judi Dench is a formidable presence. Eileen Atkins is award-winningly captivating. The young Alex Etel shines. Michael Gambon steals every scene he’s in. Simon Woods charms. Imelda Staunton amuses. Jim Carter delights. Lisa Dillon is a revelation. Philip Glenister is wonderful. Indeed, the entire cast is truly impressive. Major or minor roles, all pull their weight. It’s good stuff!

• I loved cranford so much for this and all the little village troubles they’d bring up. Them peeking out of windows & being absolutely bothered every goings on at the neighbors place like it was their business -this show was so charming

• I loved this! very silly and also hilarious and also kind of a great illustration of what it looks like to be in community, ie regular contact with people who are not your best friends, who you may not even like that much, but who will nevertheless go to your sister’s funeral with you if needed.

• This is pure pure pure joy and everyone should watch it and let the love of it flow into their hearts. I won’t get ‘patriotic’ but this makes me want to, so in that sense, what have they done to me. absolutely captured my heart is what.
