It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

A circle of thoroughly narcissistic, morally bankrupt friends operate an unprosperous South Philadelphia dive bar called Paddy's Pub. Constantly driven by petty grudges, greed, and catastrophic delusions of grandeur, the group repeatedly concocts absurd schemes that derail their lives and terrorize anyone caught in their wake.

  • “Charlie Work,” even without its long tracking shot, was a hilarious way to show us Charlie excelling at a very specific thing on a specific day of the year (while everyone else became hindering “Charlies”) and the Gang's visit to the Family Feud-style game show gave Dennis one of his best, most-deserved breakdowns of all time.

  • On one hand, there’s the sheer volume of comic talent both in front of and behind the camera which consistently pulls off the seemingly impossible task of creating transcendent black comedy out of one of the most uncompromisingly bleak views of human nature ever seen on television.
Dennis Perkins on The A.V. Club
  • It's a terrific mix of highbrow and lowbrow: niftily plotted, wittily edited, brilliantly performed, and casually offensive. Yet It's Always Sunny is funny not for its shock value, but because it feels like a recognisable slice of life. For all its toxicity, it is weirdly cheering – invigorating, even. Acid can be addictive.
