This novel brought me back to the classic Egyptian literature that I love, the literature of the people and their problems, the literature of simple language steeped in symbolism, the literature of politics and society with its problems and challenges. A well-written novel with wonderful descriptions that takes the reader into all its details until he feels like he is one of its characters. A novel about the Egyptian countryside, much has been written about it, but this novel was not similar to what preceded it.
Marwa Abdullah on Goodreads I liked it very much. I liked the idea of it, although it shows the bad sides of the countryside, the bad side of politics at the time, and the bad side of everything, but it is written in a sweet way without flexing any muscle in the writing, and this is something I feel. The writers are the doctors in particular for everyone I have read, and that is why I love them. The novel does not have a single boring page that made me turn every once in a while to see what would happen to them.
Basma Omar on Goodreads I still cannot determine whether this book shook me and affected me so deeply, because Mansi Qandil’s writings made me miss them in general, or because it is truly one of his most beautiful writings.
