I will say that "The Candy House" is an excellent book, and if we combine it with "A Visit from the Goon Squad" we have a work that deserves to endure and I hope it does. Even though the percentage of readers willing to take on the powerful and rewarding challenge Jennifer Egan sets before us and climb this mountain (and with great pleasure) may be small, this book had to exist. IT IS WELL WORTH IT.
