Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India

In Victorian-era colonial India, villagers suffering through a severe drought face crippling agricultural taxes from their British overlords. An arrogant officer offers to cancel the tax for three years if the villagers can beat his regiment in a high-stakes cricket match, forcing the inexperienced townsfolk to quickly learn the unfamiliar game.
