I found the subtle class contrast the film portrays very interesting. How what the character did manages to be buried without much fuss or investigation because of who she was. She and her family are constantly surrounded and served by Indigenous people. The character's doubt is very well conveyed through imagery and her actions to prove to herself whether it really happened. The lead actress's performance is very good too.
Sofia on Letterboxd This is not an easy film to watch, or to understand, but the potency with which it resonates in the imagination is remarkable. Lucrecia Martel’s other films, The Swamp (2001) and The Holy Girl (2004) have both had something of this spacey, floating style, but never before has it been applied to something so painful, so relevant, and never before has she delivered such a psychologically real portrait: demonstrating in both style and content what happens when we go into denial.
Peter Bradshaw on The Guardian Lucrecia making cinema about guilt, social class, and that horrifying feeling of witnessing something no one wants to name, being accomplices to murder. Everything feels uncomfortable, as if trapped in pure paranoia.
