The acting is convincing enough so you feel some of the impact the debt collector’s activities have on people living in a grayish, mostly impoverished city in Poland. I think the analogy to The Christmas Carol the second reviewer (at this time) brings up is a good one. If you like movies with a positive message that offer personal transformation this works on that level.
Brian Randall on Letterboxd This film perfectly captures the importance of self awareness and policing when it comes to our own morality. Whilst we hate the main character for his seeming lack of sympathy towards others, he does gain some of our respect especially since he does not deviate from his beliefs from case to case. In my opinion the sound track and cinematography is extremely powerful with strong links to “kino moralnego niepokoju”.
ambiguois on Letterboxd Themes of transformation, work, love, goodness, etc. It's sad that in performing this job one must sacrifice either empathy or a paycheck. A beautiful ending, it even brought a tear to my eye.
