Heartwarming feelgood documentary about the first ever Somali bandy team. Now. I want a spin-off documentary about Patrik. And one about Billy. These two guys were the most eccentric characters in this.
Matias Juselius on Letterboxd The biggest achievement of Nice People is that it gives name and personality to these people, a group that so often gets lumped together as numbers in the statistics or racist news. Every one of the Somali players carry such a life story and to get to know some of that is just amazing.
Xplodera on Letterboxd Totally incredible. I love Filip and Fredrik and this is such an amazingly heartwarming story, as well as super funny. Will watch The Last Journey soon. But I recommend this one so much.
Gunnar on Letterboxd The players show ample spirit as they encounter loss upon loss, and they amass fans from around the world who see something of themselves in the resilience of the team. The film effortlessly celebrates the value of culture, sport, and self-representation to break barriers and empower communities.
Pat Mullen on POV Magazine 'Nice People' has a great feel-good vibe and a positive message. Remarkably, as the Somalis improve at bandy, the native Borlänge locals begin to thaw. The finest scene is the one where immigrants and locals play a match together. A joyful tone is provided by colorful characters like team manager and initiator Andersson and sponsor Tang.
