Cody on Letterboxd Offers so many stunning portraits of bravery: from the 13-year-old girl testifying in front of her attackers because she believes it's the right thing to do, from the family standing behind her at all costs, from the activists fighting against long-standing cultural norms, from the filmmakers continuing to document the story amid threats of violence. To Kill a Tiger is often a very hard watch, but it's also a hopeful one, and a really moving depiction of how change happens.
Louis Peitzman on Letterboxd It's probably the most elusive film nominated at the Oscars this year. It was very upsetting in subject matter, but two hours later, you feel like the seeds of change were planted in this small village. I wish there was a little more of the trial's aftermath in the film to support that idea, but everything here is well-crafted and engaging.
