Wrath of Silence

• Wrath of Silence is a 2017 Chinese Thriller that tells that story of a mute father who returns from work in a mine to look for his missing son. Featuring an enthralling plot and some beautiful cinematography this is a film that could easily fly under the radar but is one that should not be missed. Featuring a corridor fight scene very reminiscent of Oldboy, one of the interesting plot points is watching the desperate man seek out his son without the use of a voice.

• Fascinating bend of slow burn thriller, dark comedy and social commentary that progressively becomes a little bit more generic, though not badly so, but found it pretty dynamic and compelling throughout. Good stuff.

• This Chinese thriller retains its mystery till the last frame and comes with a hidden social message. Beautifully shot in the Northwest mountain range of China, this movie revolves around the search hunt for a missing boy in Gufeng mountain. Screenplay is well written and actors were well suited for their role especially Song Yang as a mute father. I don't understand why many Chinese thrillers remain a hidden gem and not getting recognition despite their highly original content.
