Brazil Red

Set during the 1555 expedition led by Villegagnon to establish a French colony in Guanabara Bay, the novel follows two orphaned French children, Just and Colombe, taken along to serve as interpreters among the Tupinambá. Amid brutal religious strife between Catholic and Calvinist settlers, the children embark on divergent journeys of cultural immersion in the New World.
