In my opinion, he is the best and best-acted character, and somehow against all odds wins sympathy and commands the viewer's attention. Moreover, he gives distinct flavor to the series, which I think is quite well-made considering Polish conditions and budget. On top of that, a big plus in general for the subject matter, as it's always an alternative to endless generic soaps.
olad2 on Filmweb Without silly dialogue, with the boon of bringing historical reenactment groups onto the set, easy on the eyes, shot with imagination featuring plenty of close-ups and dynamic shots. Decently staged. The biggest surprise is that the series avoids over-explaining and heavy-handed exposition; for example, the origin of the Russian commissar Sribielnikov could have been handled through a monologue confession from Globisz's railwayman, but they simply zoomed in on a photograph—and everything became instantly clear.
dbrzost on Filmweb I like the series very much. It's more fun than 'Days of Honor'. Just one episode, and so much action ;) A huge plus for realism: finally everyone speaks in their own language. I look forward to spring with impatience. Finally something worth watching on public television.
Anusia_9683 on Filmweb In an era of mediocre Polish romantic comedies and tacky commercial series, 'War and Love' is a thoroughly decent production. It should be mandatory viewing for anyone out of touch with our country's history. I feel that public television funds were put to good use here.
mario86 on Filmweb I wasn't planning on watching Polish TV series, but this one has something special. Finally, kudos for the music during battle scenes—and the slow motion; finally someone in our country is making cinema with guts.
